Soul Trapper is a 3+ hour interactive audio adventure that follows the turbulent life of Kane Pryce, a 27 year-old drifter who possess a mysterious device known as the Soul Trap, a supernaturally charged object that allows him to hunt down, capture, and send ghosts from the earthly realm to the afterlife. Capture the Hayloft Ghost
You will hear Kane say which direction to aim the Soul Trap. You must press the correct button to aim (left/right) within the brief amount of time allotted in order to aim the Soul Trap correctly. The puzzle will start over if you are unable to aim it correctly. If you successfully aim the Soul Trap three times, you are then given the audio cue from Kane to “Fire!”. You must then press the fire button within the brief amount of time allotted or else you’ve failed to capture the ghost, and the puzzle will start over.
Journey Into the Soul Trap
Listen to the rhythm of Kane’s heart beating. Press the heart button in time with the sound of the heartbeat. When you get the timing correct, Kane relaxes, and his heart beats slower, so slow down the rhythm of your button presses. After getting five correct, Ned tells you that you are succeeding. Get it correct 15 times to enter the Soul Trap.
Unlock the Safe
Kane will tell you the combination of the safe. You must then turn the dial (left/right) the correct number of times to match the combination number. Once you enter the combination, you must press the unlock button to open the safe. If you put in the wrong combination, the puzzle will start over. You have three tries to open the safe.
Find the Crystal Puzzle
You will be given a particular crystal sound you must find among a series of sounds. Cycle through a series of crystal sounds by pressing either the ‘grab left crystal’ or ‘grab right crystal’ button. When you hear a crystal sound that matches the one you were given at the start of the puzzle, press the ‘insert crystal’ button. If you select the wrong crystal, Kane throws it away and you must cycle through again to find the one that matches. Eventually, through a process of elimination, you will find the correct crystal sound. Also, if you wait a few moments, Kane will listen to the reference crystal again.
Press the left/right tuning buttons to cycle through different ghostly radio stations in order to find a channel with Karl talking. You will have to listen carefully. Once you hear Karl talking, press the ‘select’ button to complete the puzzle. If you select the wrong channel, you will be prompted to continue to cycle through the radio static noise to find Karl.
You must chase the evil clown spirit through the carnival. Carefully to hear which direction the clown is running; he laughs as he runs, and frightens the crowd around him. He can be heard running to the left or right, and if he’s not running left or right, he’s running straight away from you. When you determine which way he is running, press the appropriate button (left/right/forward). If you fail, Kane returns to the front gate; restart by going back to the round-up.
Shoot the Mirror
This is like the ‘Capture the Hayloft Ghost’ but now Kane does not say the direction; you need to listen which way the clown is moving. You must press the correct button to aim (left/right) within the brief amount of time allotted in order to aim the Soul Trap correctly. The puzzle will start over if you are unable to aim it correctly. If you successfully aim the Soul Trap a few times, you are then given the audio cue from Kane to “Fire!”. You must hit the fire button within the brief amount of time allotted or else you’ve failed and the puzzle will start over.
The church bells play a series of notes, making a familiar children’s tune. You may recognize the first tune as “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” You must match the order of the bell tones with the notes that are given. Upon completion, you will hear the bells play a version of “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”. When you have successfully finished the series of tunes, the organ keys will disappear. During the game, Ned will give an encouraging audio response as you correctly play the series of given notes. If you make a mistake, wait to hear the church bells repeat the tune you need to follow. Numbering the keys from left to right, the tune patterns are:

Journey Into the Soul Trap
This is similar to the puzzle in Chapter 2, but you must also match your presses to Kane’s breathing as well. Alternate between the heartbeat and breathing buttons in time with the sounds, as they slow down.
Descend the Cliff
Ned will provide ongoing instructions. The instructions will be a combination of 3 or 4 steps, using the directions left, right, and down. As you correctly follow a set of instructions, Ned will give an encouraging response to let you know you are on the right track. The puzzle is done when 5 sets of directions are followed successfully.
The beach is represented in a 30x30 grid and you start out at position 15,0. You can move left, right, or forward. The left and right buttons “rotate” you rather than move you in a side step. The forward button will move you through the grid from position to position. The beep is heard left, right, or centered relative to your position and rotation. The beep will be faster or slower, and louder and softer, based on the distance an object is to your position. When you are at the position of an object, a constant tone will be heard. Press the dig button to discover the object at that location. You must find the Lone Ranger Badge amongst a few other random objects scattered around the area.
If you are having trouble homing in on an object, try moving in a straight line until you hear the beep slowing down, which means you’ve passed it; rotate right and move forward some more. Every time you hear the beep slow down, rotate right again and move forward again. Eventually you will ‘spiral in’ on the object. Or, when the beep is heard on either the left or right side, move forward until you are lined up perpendicular with the beep where the beeping can be heard the loudest. Next, turn in that direction and listen. If the beeping is centered in both ears, just start moving forward and start digging when the beeping becomes fast and constant. If the beeping is heard either in the opposite ear from the way you turned, walk forward and then turn towards the beep again. Keep doing this procedure until you get the beeping centered and then just move forward until you get the fast constant beeping which will alert you to start digging.
Scare Sister Agnes
You must release Ollie when Sister Agnes is unlocking the sacristy. You must listen closely when you are in the Organ room to hear when she unlocks the sacristy and enters. Once she has entered and you can’t hear her, release Ollie, and then go right to enter the sacristy. If you release him too soon or too late, you’ll have to wait for her to come unlock the sacristy again.
Attract Donna’s Attention
You have a button to ‘Shake Badge’. You need to shake the badge when a dragon flies by to reflect light into Donna’s eyes. The dragon flies in stereo sweeps, from left to right. Initially, the sweeps are slow, but they speed up. The middle of the sweep, the loudest part of the sweep sound, when it is centered in stereo space, is the only point where the badge gets her attention. Kane will tell you if you are early or late. You will need to succeed six times in a row to attract Donna’s attention.
You are attacked from the left, right and center in four sets of attacks. Listen to hear if the attack is coming from the left, right, or center, and press the corresponding button as soon as you determine which direction the attack is coming from. You must defend each attack in a set. If you select the wrong direction, or the timing too late, you are “hit”, and start the set current over again.
Mystical Vibrations Healing Puzzle
A sound appears in stereo space, and you must help Kane “center” the sound. If you hear it on the right, press left to center it, and if it is on the left, press right. Initially, space is divided into 3 places: left, center, or right, but as the puzzle goes on, space is divided into 5 and then 9 places. As the puzzle progresses, you will hear two, three, or even four sounds will occur at once, distinctly different in pitch, from low to high. Select one of the sound streams by pressing the up and down buttons; the currently selected stream will be louder than the others. When all of the sounds in the current round are centered, a flourish sound effect will play, indicating success. If you are having trouble centering a sound, press left a few times (no more than eight times will ever be necessary) which will position it to the far left; then press right until it is centered: it will be centered with one, three, or five presses, depending on the difficulty of the puzzle.
When the cups stop moving, you will hear a rattle sound from the left, center, or right. Press the cup correlating to the source of the sound. There are no negative consequences to this puzzle – Kane just gets to have a free drink if you get it correct!
You must first get the ladder before you can climb up to the hayloft.
Open the Safe Puzzle:
If you fail to follow the combination lock sequence three times, Kane will automatically shoot off the lock in frustration and the safe will open.
Find the Crystal Puzzle:
You’ll eventually find the right crystal by just hitting the grab crystal button. Every time you select a wrong crystal, it gets thrown away. So by the process of elimination, you’ll eventually find the correct crystal. The correct crystal is three or more positions away from where you start.
Get into Nicky Lonzi’s Office:
You must first talk to the secretary, then go to the restaurant kitchen to get a waiter’s uniform, then go to the security guards, who will let you in to Nicky’s elevator.
When cycling through the different radio static noises, listen for Karl saying the following phrases:
Chapter 4 - “Oh untimely death….”
Chapter 7 – “I buried Paul….”
Chapter 15 – “Turn me on dead man…”
Karl is three or more stations away from where the radio station starts.
